Last updated 5 months ago

All major processes on Cadabra platform happen within epochs. An epoch lasts for one calendar week (7 days) and starts every Thursday at 16:00 UTC.

Step by Step

Voting and reward distribution occur every epoch, but the voting lifecycle lasts for three epochs.

Epoch N

  • During this epoch users vote for strategies and underlying reward sources.

  • At end of the epoch, the voting results are finalized.

Epoch N+1

  • At the start of the epoch, ABRA emission takes place, and liquidity is rebalanced within strategies based on the voting results from the previous epoch N.

  • During the epoch liquidity providers are receiving ABRA as rewards. The APR of strategies depends on the voting results from the previous epoch N.

  • During the epoch strategies are collecting Underlying Protocol Rewards (UPR) from underlying protocols.

Epoch N+2

  • At the start of the epoch, the collected UPR is distributed among users who voted, and UPR becomes available for claiming during this and any subsequent epoch.

At the start of each epoch, voting results are synchronized across the networks on which Cadabra operates. After synchronization, the results are calculated, and ABRA is emitted. This process can take from a few seconds to several hours, depending on the load on LayerZero and Chainlink. Therefore, there may be a delay at the beginning of each epoch before new rewards are displayed.

Events and Processes During Each Epoch

During each specific epoch, several events and processes from cycles initiated in previous epochs take place:

Begining

Based on the voting results from one epoch ago:

  • Liquidity is rebalanced within each strategy

  • Weekly ABRA emissions are allocated for future rewards

Based on the voting results from two epochs ago:

  • One-time distribution of collected UPR to voters, making UPR available for claim

Day by Day

User voting determines the following for the Next Epoch:

  • APR for each strategy, meaning the share of ABRA emission allocated to each strategy

  • Future rebalancing of liquidity within each strategy

  • Each voter's share of future rewards from underlying sources (UPR)

Distribution of ABRA to liquidity providers in strategies, where the yield of strategies depends on voting from one epoch ago

Collection of Underlying Protocol Rewards (UPR) from voting one epoch ago

Claiming Underlying Protocol Rewards (UPR) from voting two epochs ago. The UPR is available for claim in all subsequent epochs.
